Quantum Information Group · Yoshifumi Nakata · Institute of Science Tokyo Exploring new frontiers in information science through quantum theory

Information is physical: Although information is abstract, it is always processed by physical systems and constrained by the laws of physics. Quantum information science explores the possibilities and limits of information processing based on these fundamental physical laws, described by quantum theory.

The goal of our group is:

Uncover the fundamental role of information in quantum theory, and connect these insights to new information technologies.

Our research spans quantum information processing, such as quantum communication, quantum error correction, and quantum algorithms, as well as foundational studies that seek fundamental physics from an information-theoretic perspective.

Through an interdisciplinary approach bridging computer science and physics, we explore the potential of quantum information and pursue advances that contribute to the future of science.
